| I have cleaned the bolt, receiver, and barrel in my .308 but I am having trouble cleaning in the chamber and were the bolt locks in place. I have an idea to either get a 7.62 AR chamber brush or whatever gauge / caliber brush is the size of .308 brass and cover either one with a patch, but I am guessing that's not the best way to go about it. What does everyone else use? |

 I do, in fact, use a cotton patch over a (Hoppe's) bronze brush for everything except 22 caliber firearms. I, also, have an assortment of small toothbrushes that I use. Soaking the barrel, and other parts, overnight helps. My favorite gun cleaner? Flitz Metal Polish. (Which is chemically identical to Iosso's Bore Cleaner, and, 'Lead Away' cleaning cloths.) My favorite soak-bath solution? There are several: Kroil, Break Free, 'CLP', Automatic Transmission Fluid, or just plain kerosene.

A .45 caliber brush will clean the chamber area if you need to scrub it. I usually patch it out with some solvent and it cleans it well enough.

I use a curved medical scissors type clamp to hold a couple tips cut off a q-tip. I put some M-Pro 7 on them and then just spin them around the inside of the chamber and lugs. I do the same for AR15 type rifles.
I bought those star shaped plug cleaners, but the damn thing just spun on the tool/holder. I sent them back. Maybe there is a better design of that tool, but I sure wasn't lucky enough to find it.

I use the sinclair bolt action cleaning kit..works excellent for cleaning the action, including the bolt lungs and it will last...
