Currently trying to decide which way to go for a 14.5” or 16” 6.5 CM. I have the following options: 1) Currently own the LMT MWS Defender but it’s in 7.62. I can keep it and pick up a Kreiger 14.5” barrel then send it to D.Wilson for the conversion and Cerakote. Possibly sell the factory barrel (still brand new) to recoup a little cash. Or 2) Sell the LMT and pick up the Geissele 16” MRGG 6.5 CM. Overall would probably cost me an additional $1500 over the LMT. Now the other thing to consider is that I also own an LMT MARS-H with the 20” factory SS 6.5 CM barrel. I also have in the collection a KAC SR-25 with 16” 7.62, Lanxang Tactical VL-34 with 16” 7.62, and a JP LRP-07 with 18” cut rifled 308 (currently on order). So already having an LMT in the collection kinda makes me want to sell one and pick up the Geissele, which seems to be been getting outstanding reviews from everybody. I also recognize that there is limited return going to the new platform versus swapping the barrel on the gun I already have. I do enjoy a diversified collection with great guns from different manufacturers, but also know that LMT makes outstanding products so I’m not really losing out on much if anything on capability. I’ve also had several other large frame AR’s over the years (Seekins SP10M, GAP-10, Larue OBR, HK MR762, Daniel Defense DD5, and couple others that I can’t remember at this point) so not looking at any other options. Having said all of that, am I crazy for wanting to sell one of my LMT’s for the Geissele to try something new? Or should I keep the LMT and swap the barrel? Advice is welcome and appreciated. |

I’d keep the LMT and save up to buy the Geissele personally. I’m sure the Geissele rifles are good, but I’d struggle with the idea of getting rid of a perfectly good rifle and being out $1,500 on top of it. |

Love my 16" MRGG. Shoots very well with Federal 140 berger hybrids. However, the way they set up the rear of the receiver with a proprietary system that doesn't allow for a receiver sling mount is absolutely the dumbest fucking thing I have ever seen on a rifle. Irrelevant if you stock mount your slings, or run the PRS Lite it comes with, but the whole point of me getting the shorter barrel was to run a collapsible stock. |
