This is the Buttplate on a M1903 Target rifle I acquired, I have reason to believe it is for a recoil reduction system but in the research I have done could not find one that had this arraignment on the buttplate, The rifle is from 1919 and the stock appeared to be from around the 70's, if this is indeed a recoil dampening system I would like to try and determine what exactly it is. That is the stock side of an adjustable butt plate. The butt plate has matching grooves and can be positioned up or down and maybe side to side depending on the screw slot arrangement on the butt pad plate. I suspect it will be difficult to find the rest of it to match up. |
