I''ve built a 6ARC upper with the intentions of shooting some PRS style matches.  I put an old era3 rail I had laying around on it for now but I'm wondering if there is a traditional style rail that would give me less POI shift when shooting from various positions.

In another thread I saw someone mention using a rail with a longer steel barrel nut.  Does this make a difference as I thought the shift came from the flex in the actual upper receiver.  Eventually I may look at purchasing an aero enhanced upper but they are not currently available anywhere.

Handguards can make a difference, especially if you want a very long one and plan to load a bipod that's placed far forward. While you should probably avoid an ultra-light handguard on a precision gun, it's not necessarily the highest priority.

It's a better to focus on a good upper like a VLTOR MUR or BCM thermal fit.  Alternatively, you could glue the barrel in with green Loctite.  Then learn to shoot the gun in a way that it likes best.  Test your bipod position and load, practice varying amounts of grip pressure, and learn how tripod or barricade shooting works with a gas gun.

Aero M4E1 upper with that handguard is a rock solid setup at a reasonable price.  Too bad Aero is unobtanium these days it seems.  Ive been wanting to build another AR10, and while isnt the absolute best, it was the most obtainable.

Just picked up a larue semi monolithic to deal with this exact issue. I'm using a geissele mk8 now and the shift is extreme.
