I haven't owned a bolt action rifle in a very long time. I have a number of precision gas guns that I shoot regularly but I've been wanting a "magnum" bolt action that I could reach out further with. I've been eyeballing the Bergara rifles for years and finally bit the bullet and picked one up. I went with the Bergara B14 HMR in 300 PRC. Can't wait to get an optic! Attached File |

Guy i work with got the same rifle. I'm taking him to shoot long range this Wednesday. Interested to see how much it moves the plate and if i can hear an impact at 1275. I'm a big ol recoil puss so i will have to live vicariously i hated the recoil of a 7 mag cant imagine how much it is with 300 prc. |

I feel your pain i added 6arc and 6.5 creed recently the component and die cost me almost what the barrels did.

I did the initial cleaning of it last night, seemed to be quite a bit of copper fowling from the factory firing. I am going to follow a simple break in that looks like this. Fire 1 shot and then clean for 5 shots. Fire 5 shots and clean 3 times. 20 rounds total. |

We put in the box velocity 212 eldx his gun actually averaged 2866 over a 10 shot string. Zeroed the gun at a 100 went to the long range part. From 360 to 660 he hit with one shot on 10" plates range jumps in 100~ yard increments until 1060 then it go's 1275 The range picks up a lot more wind from 760 on so he missed just off the right side at 760 corrected and hammered it. From 860 to 1060 again one shot each 10-12" plates 1275 we had to do some ballistic truing or /and i was off on the wind read. He hit 2 foot high and a 2 foot right of the 24" plate. He held just off the bottom left corner and smacked it in the top right corner. I will talk about how good my razor gen 3 is here i literally saw the paint disappear on the plate and it wiggle. (first time i got to take it since my back surgery) He dialed in the adjustments and smacked the plate 5 times in a row. Looked at me smiled and said that's literally 4 times farther than i've ever shot before in my life. He tried a few shots at the silhouette at 1275 hit it twice missed off the downwind side a few times it was going from 8-20mph Wet berm i was flipping amazed at how much better i could see the miss / splash than with my 6.5 creed i knew it would be more (im not completely stupid) but damn the amount of dirt it kicked up was impressive. My first time being around a 300 prc. I'm not a magnum guy but i'll tell u if i was going to buy one it would probably be a 300 prc after today. |

I took mine out today but had limited time. I only had a chance to get through the 5 shot string with a cleaning between each round and then a 5 shot group before I had to get home to take care of a few things. It shot pretty damn well though and I was surprised at how manageable the recoil was. I was expecting it to hammer me. I shot without a can while I get through break in. Once that’s done I’ll toss the can on, finish sighting it in and get some velocities. Attached File |
