I’m shooting a CZ457 varmint in factory class ARA.

In general, how do these rifles compare in accuracy to the current production Unlimited rifles like the Vuduu, Bergara, etc.

Thanks.

I have bought a couple 40X rifles from them over the years.  I had Modacam modify them to be repeaters that use Vudoo mags.

Some of the best money I have spent on firearms.

I got a USMC barreled Remington 40X action from CMP years ago. This is it now.

It is not possible for me to comment on your accuracy question.

I believe some/many people would be interested for "collectability" reasons.  I'd guess that's especially true for the the early Winchesters.

My dad shoots a lot of .22 BR. For the factory guns, the 40x’s seem to be the ones to beat. They routinely shoot the IR 50/50 targets clean with 18-22x’s with lot selected ammo.

My factory Vudoo wouldn’t hang with his 40x’s, but that barrel was super picky. I replaced it shortly after receiving it.

He just picked up a few more 40x’s from CMP. I’ll see if I can test them next week.

That sounds like a great combination.

Ballpark, what did they charge for the conversion?

Can't remember, it has been a few years.  It was not terribly expensive and the turn around time was awesome.

Refresh my memory - which "clubs" can one join to qualify to purchase from the CMP? I qualify under the marksmanship section because of my C&R, and I was previously qualified for my club by having a grand collector's association membership. But that laps long ago. And I'm really interested in one of the Remingtons.

You likely have a state level club or association that does your area high power or other shooting organization.

I joined NYS Rifle and Pistol Association as a Life Member, easier than renewing the Garand Collector Club membership.  Although I liked the Garand Collector Club and their magazine 6 issues a year iirc.

I haven’t bought from CMP in a decade though.

Yep, Md, PA, Va all have state level in your region plus a long list of clubs.
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

Cool, thanks!

ETA: joined the M1 Collectors Club. I was a member of the Izaak Walton League, which is a whopping 5 miles away from me, years ago. But getting a membership there is something of a procedure, and I don't know if I need to do it again.
