What's the dope on the M82a1 20 inch barrel vs the 29? Is there a compelling reason (ballistics, range, etc) to not go with the 13318 (20 inch) and go with another 29 inch model for another $900 plus?

20 is lighter and more mobile.  29 is better for long distance.

How far will you be shooting it?

With the ranges around here I'm guessing it would be a max around 457 meters.

When you say "long distance", what's the drop off for 20 vs 29? I'm pretty sure I won't be shooting any VBIED's so terminal performance isn't an issue.. I'm just curious.

TDY in my current AO. Eventually moving on and hopefully gaining more range. That's why I was looking for the dope on what people are shooting with different barrel lengths.

I wouldnt think ELR and an M82 would go together. For anti-material purposes I'd want the shorter one.

Haven’t handled a 20” so limited perspective but the rifle is a pig anyway you cut it. Even lopping 9” off the barrel I don’t see it becoming appreciably more svelte. Might as well get the 29” and wring all the FPS out of the round. Plus, I think the standard barrel length looks visually balanced
