They have been using those in Africa for decades.

I made and carry something similar for my pistol when deer hunting. A little thinner poles but same concept. Works great as a walking stick as well.

I took a chance and went to this tripod...figured for less then 130 bucks delivered it would be worth the risk...I also have converted my vortex tripods over to Swiss-Arca versus each tripod having its own special shoe..now anything will fit anything..and much simpler too use....
