Bought 500 of these to test for my bolt gun. My supply of varget is getting low VV n140 is easier and cheaper to obtain. Worth trying or stick with varget? |

For me the only negative to Varget....does not measure the best through the Dillon PM. From 40gr to 85gr 223 Rem loads Varget flat out works. N133 and 50gr V-Max N135 and 69gr SMK N140 & N540 with 75gr on up to 85gr bullets. There are other powders might shine with the with various weights.....along the way. |

As others have said, save the Varget for .308, except for the M1A which prefers H4895. I have found that Varget, if using military brass, 5.56mm, tends to over fill the case even with what would be considered light loads. That and it is so close to perfect for .308 I save it for .308. I don’t load 75 grain bullets but H4985 works very well for me with 68 grain Hornady, HPBT bullets and 69 grain Barnes Match Burner bullets. |

Glad to see this, thanks! A friend is using N140 and N135, my plan is to go to N135 for 60-75gr. He is running 80.5/N140 as I recall. Says it is cleaner, temp stability is not as significant as some folks claim but he is/I will run below max and track for fun. Edit to Clarify: "80.5/N140" means he is running an 80.5 grain BULLET with N140....... whew..... |

But the n140 has worked awesome the small targets at 560 are childs play. Barrel just shoots everything good but i doubt it will see much other than the 75 eldm now that its broken in. Easily my favorite gun to shoot its so dang easy to shoot well. |

Varget is great but it has got stupid expensive. N140 is pretty reasonably priced these days as powder prices go funny since Vihtav used to be the Expensive powder. I've gone away from Varget to Staball match and N140 for 223-308 -06 high power loads . Used to like RL15 but JFC $70 a pound. |
