see alot of nice stuff, comparing #'s there looks like a bunch of great bikes under $1000 delivered. Wife has a Heybike that's worked good, now i'm looking for one. will be used for recreational riding, some trail riding and fishing. what sez the hive? which one to avoid? |

I say prioritize features that will keep it from going obsolete. I've got a 13yr old e-bike from ebikekit that still works. The reason it still works is because it doesnt have a million proprietary parts and a shitload of stupid features, and the batteries are a common size. So even though ebikekit stopped selling the batteries that mine uses, I can just go to batteries plus here in town and buy them. If you get the ones with the computers and the GSM cards with alarms and anti-theft and bluetooth, thats more shit to break. The core ebike components - battery, motor, controller, are solved science. Companies know how to make those well. Those aren't likely the parts that will crap out and brick the bike. Except eventually the battery will need replaced. |
