| My folks used to have an outside wood furnace, and it could be used to heat the water. We would do that during the cold weather months, then switch over to heating the water with electric in the warmer months. At some point, Dad decided to just use electric full time to cut back on the amount of firewood we had to cut, and we went from about 20 pickup loads/year to 13 or so. |

The lodge I stayed at on my last trip to Africa had wood fired water heaters. Workers fired them up in the middle of the night so we could have a warm shower, the water wasn’t very hot but better than all cold. Attached File |
