Why don't we eat predators? I mean, everyone says they're nasty, but has anyone here actually tried one? I mean, I kill at least 30 predators a year by calling and maybe I should try eating one . . . .

Ever eat vegetarian pussy? Much milder in flavor. Less nitrogen, phosphorus and sulphur. Animals taste like what they eat. Carnivores in general are stronger flavored (and tougher). Even herbivores vary depending on their feed. Predators are also top consumers. All of the environmental contaminants are concentrated in their flesh. Some people just don't eat them out of respect.  you are what you eat. Some animals have that game taste to it, but others taste good. Rabbits, Ducks, Squirels, etc but others have an aquired taste like armadillo, possom or racoon. If you want to try then eat if you dont like it then dont eat it but keep the fur at least.

My culture does not eat dogs, that being said if I had to provide a meal for my family and all there is, is the yotes. Granted they would make a lovely stew. I have a Korean friend whom I hunt with who takes the skinned yotes to his family. He said it tasted horrid and wont eat it again. His dad always thanks me for the meat. I hear Lion is wonderful. Never even thought about a Bobcat. |

Egads man! Eating a Coyote. I'd have to be about half a step from starving to death. Just something about what they eat, or to put it better... the few things they WON'T eat. I ate a Jackrabbit once........ and once was more then enough. Hehe, for sure update us on how it was.

That isn't going to end well. Dogs we have had would not even touch it. Have smelled it when you skin them? Maybe if you were starving but other than that no way. I have eaten lots of things but dog, badger ground hog, P dog are not on that list. And never will be. |

Yep, I've smelled 'em. Stinky! I surely don't want to eat anything that lives under the ground (pdog, badger, etc.) but hey, I've eaten damn near every other type of game in AZ, might as well try the one thing I hunt the most! Plus, I have life insurance . . . .

No, it's not. It's LOWER!  I've eaten possum a couple times, and a fair bit of 'rat (okay, muskrat) But I'm going to have to be starving before I stick a fork in a fox or coyote! (although the local joint that supposedly serves up some dog makes it taste mighty fine!) And there's always cat: the other gray meat! |

I found this recipe for yote over to THR marinade them over night in you favorite marinade. soak two oak planks in salted water over night. fire up the grill, place 1st soaked plank on then place marinaded coyote then place other plank on top close grill and cook about 8 min. per pound, remove planks and coyote. now throw coyote in trash and eat the planks !

Damn, cook it well...one word RABIES! Like any predator I dust off, I always pop on the surgical gloves before handling because of Rabies. You had better do some research to see what cooking temp elevation will kill the rabies virus. In short, damn if I would, right now the current situation does not demand such bravado, I would rather sit down at applebees for a chicken dinner. Until survival become paramount would I even consider such dinner fare. Actually I would run around eating house cats before a coyote. There is some evidence of house cats being eaten without too much complaint. | I once tried to eat a coyote.... I was very very hungry hadnt eaten anything but a Bluejay in 3 days. Cut a nice rump roast out of him, rubbed it in salt, spitted it and slow roasted it over the fire for what seemed an eternity. My stomach growled as I watched the juices boil out of the meat and drip slowly onto the hot rocks and coals below. Finally I deemed it done and sliced off a piece with my buck knife and cheerfully popped it in my mouth. I then immediately spit it out and gagged. Coyote even slow roasted rotisserie style over an open flame of cow chips and wild plum branches, taste not unlike a wet stinky dog smells. However pack rat is quite tastey and much more tender than squirrel. |

yup. i've heard this also. i won't eat scavengers unless i'm starving, and that is what i think of coyotes as. same with crow |
It's the other "White" meat. Cooks up just like pork.  I dont think you could get ant one to eat coyote
