You guys are slacking Iowa gun season 8pt and a doe my oldest son also got an 8pt and a button buck I used a 350L Wilson combat barrel and lower shooting Winchester 180g 68y shot on the buck 35y on the doe both dropped in their tracks  Pic from bow season

We had a banner year this year, with the help of my Dad to donate a couple deer to our freezer. 2 mature bucks, 2 does, and 1 sizeable hog will keep us very well stocked this year. Does not pictured. Dad's 11pt, 170lbs. Shot with 7mm Rem Mag 139 SST's handloaded over H4831  My 7pt meat buck, 155lbs. Shot with 7mm Rem Mag and 140 Sierra Game King handloaded over H4350  My 150lb boar also with 7mm Mag. He looks bigger hanging up, but very stocky. Already sampled the pork chops and they tasted great, so I know he will work for Italian sausage and pulled pork.

Successes for the year: Got this gal back in October. I had planned on letting her walk, but when I saw the swollen cheek, I decided to cull the herd. Likely just an impacted tooth.   Next up was this gal, first day of the main rifle season. Came in right at last shooting light.  Then I got the flu, and was out for a full day, and relatively miserable for the next week after. I shot another doe during a deer drive for my dad (never got a picture of her), but didn't see any bucks worth filling my tag with. Thankfully, on my last morning hunt of the season, this guy strolled out into the field, and I decided he was unique enough to pounce on.  The real success of the year, however, was my wife. She shot this guy the second day of the season. Biggest buck she has ever shot; she normally gets over anxious and shoots the baby bucks that come in first. This time she waited it out, and had this bruiser walk in.

Opening day for muzzle loader in my part of Florida was very successful, I shot a nice 8-pt in the am followed by a nice 9-pt later that afternoon.  A couple days later I managed to take two more decent bucks.  Couple weeks ago I got this nice 8-pt, would have mounted him but two tines were broke off. This finished up my season.  |

I've bow hunted since around 1986 never killed a buck the second half of bow season after the gun season went out tonight since the weather was super nice and it paid off. Spotted him feeding 82y away as I climbed in my stand he bedded back down and an hour or so later headed my way.

A lot of good looking kills. Me? Took a nice 8 point thanksgiving. Past 3 days. Played tag with an eight point that chased a doe around my house for 5 hours. Never could get a clean shot because of items I did not want to hit. Hell that dam deer kept going around my truck chasing that doe for ten minutes. Today I passed on a nine point buck because I want that eight point. He made the nine look like a spike. Btw I live on 20 acres and hunt off my back deck. For those interested there seems to be a minor rut going right now in my area. |

Attached File Not a trophy antler wise, but I tracked/stalked this one for half a mile and made at shot a 50 yards in thick woods. Ran 50 yards with top of the heart gone and one lung. Barnes 62 TSX loads. I’ve taken many deer with this load and it just works. |

Shot my biggest buck so far on the first day, shortly after daylight. Right around 40 yards. One shot with 44magnum 300gr XTP. He dropped at the shot, then tried to get back up, but I must have clipped his spine. I put a finisher into him, but he would have bled out soon anyway. Attached File |
