I've been experimenting with some new baits this spring - caught a few nice ones today on green pumpkin Berkley Pit Bosses - wondering what everyone else is using as their go-to... What did you catch your last one on? |
Rapala minnow of some sort or other. Don't remember what kind, it was blue and I dug it out of the bottom of my tackle box.  |

4" oil color worm with black flake.
Half hour before that, 5" yellow oil color work with chartreuse flake. I fish plastics almost exclusively.....have for decades....oil color and some green has always worked on bass for me...have caught in NY, NJ, And PA.......lakes, ponds, rivers, etc. |

Is this a largemouth bass or smallmouth? I have never fished bass. I just went out on my dock and caught it on the 1st cast with a jitterbug. About 18 inches long and 1.53 kilos, 3.366 pounds. I can't figure out how to get my fish scale to read in pounds.
A couple minutes later a larger one took the bait but spit it out immediately. I wanted to try a surface bait as I saw a large fish try to take a bird that was bathing right by the bank the other day.

Not to de rail the tread I caught four the other night on a Black t rigged zoom ol monster. |

Caught this one last night on a floating lure with a propeller on the front and rear. Then promptly lost my lure in a birch tree on my yard that I will have to cut down to get my lure back. Vintage South Bend Float-Oreno lure. 2 1/2 pound bass. about 17 inches long so he didn't weigh as much as the last one.
I have a bunch of vintage bass lures I got from my friend's old bait shop in the late 60's early 70's. The bait shop is long gone but the friend now has a newer business, he founded Monster Energy.
