Rather than getting a rain cover, why not just get a waterproof pack? Got an email yesterday from Faxon, and it mentioned their Outdoors ICON 30L pack. Quick look at some reviews - looked decent. The Pack |
| I'd just go with a waterproof/water resistant pack liner. There are a number of sil-nylon option out there. I've made some out of Tyvek, though the Tyvek wears more quickly than sil-nylon. But, Tyvek is relatively inexpensive and undeniably easy to sew/customize, as long as you don't use too tight of a thread pitch. Dye transfer - another shortcoming of Tyvek is that printed logos will transfer pigment in sustained, abrasive contact, so keep that in mind when you choose what side is the inside or out. |
| I used a nylofume liner inside my Zpacks "waterproof pack" on the AT last year. Cheap, durable, effective. Never had any issue with water intrusion into the liner. |
