I have some 6 gallon plastic water storage containers.  They are opaque ish. I last filled them about 4 or 5 years ago.  City tap water (chlorinated). Stuck them in the guest bedroom and off and on forgot about them.
Should I just toss them? Can I clean and reuse? They look ok, but I imagine there's much plastic in the water now.

If they are not brittle I would dump the water, sanitize with well diluted beach-water, and refill.  If any smell funky I would be more likely to toss or repurpose.
