Anyone into collecting vintage lures? I inherited these from my uncle Kenny who took me to my first bass tournement, The Pete Taylor Memorial on Buckeye Lake (in Ohio) in about 1980 or 81.

When I was about 14 or 15 I had a banger of a day with one of those mice. We were fishing in Quebec on a bright sunny day and nothing was happening. I tied on the mouse and started casting to shore and right away I was hammering the pike, one after another. Dad eventually got annoyed and we started to troll. That didn't matter, the pike were still hammering the mouse. He took us out to deep water, so I put a big bell sinker in front of the mouse. One walleye after another - which dad would never get tired of. My older brother was beside himself - nothing but that mouse was catching fish. To actually answer the question - I have a nice little collection of vintage lures. Most are from my grandfather, others from guys who know I fish and pass on stuff they inherited. I do fish some of them - they still work. That mouse is long gone. I miss it. |

That's where the fish are!  9lb 4oz on Lake Toho in Kissimmee FL in 2002. Funny thing is, it was caught on a $1.99 popper I bought at K mart in the 80's. I was however, casting it into a small clearing in the sawgrass and being a poor student at the time, would have had a hard time financially replacing it. Gas for the boat was $$$ lol. |

I have a box full of lucky louies and T-50 flat fish, used deep trolling for mackinaw. Another box of jitterbugs, Dalton specials, and similar old bass plugs that belonged to my dad. I don't know what to do with them. Might be interesting to clean the rust off of the hooks and make a shadow box of some sort. |
