It wasn't the prettiest stand, but it did produce two coyotes and dead is dead! As I turned on the field road where I intended to call the T on the other end there was already a coyote at the T. I didn't have time to set up my tripod, so I put down the kick stand on my bike and proceeded to lip squeak the coyote intending to shoot him while propping on the handlebars. He came down the road in textbook fashion. I proceeded to shank the shot from the unsteady handlebars. Thank God for the suppressor and the foolishness of his youth. He didn't know what the sound was and ran a few feet and turned around to figure it out. That's when he spotted me and decided to get out of Dodge. I recovered and put him down with a DRT shot at about 100 yds. So I move on to the T where I intended to call that shows up on the video of coyote1. This is a harvested cornfield, and the ditch banks haven't been mowed. I decided to set the tripod up for a standing shot since the ditch banks are so overgrown. Visibility is not good and so I put the call at only about 20 yds. from me. The second coyote is on me too close before I am able to see him. While trying to mute the call, I lose track of him. When I find him, he is at the call and not quite sure what to do with the piece of plastic that was sounding like a rabbit. He is so close to me that I don't have time to adjust the image focus. He takes a few steps but still not wanting to leave that possible meal. I put one through his shoulder and then give him a follow up to end his journey immediately. This coyote also turns out to be a young male. I call a few more minutes and do get one booger barking from the woods, but it has heard too much already, and I break down the stand and head for home. ![]() Twice Dead |
