This my truck Rather than buying a travel trailer right now, we are gonna start off truck camping. I need to buy a used camper shell for my 1995 GMC Sierra. I need to know where to look for used ones. Suggestions for sleeping in the step side bed( mat, sleeping arrangements and such) Also, a small trailer to carry other items. thx in advance everyone. |

That is a nice truck. A slide in will be tiny tho. Probably a small (under 18’) pull behind camper. But if you are set on a shell, a platform could be fabbed in pretty easy, maybe a pull out under it for stuff. Shouldn’t be hard to source a shell. |

Not sure you can find a “used” camper shell but you may find a place that could order or build a new one. If that doesn’t work the simple temp fix is a ladder rack with tarp over it, mosquito netting optional …. I’ve seen some home made plywood ones . You could just buy a tent and take that along. I’m not big on tents but I have one. I’ve had camper shells on trucks and it does get you off the ground away from snakes but it’s a bitch to drive them - visibility wise. I found I would take it on and off. Be really careful backing up with one on. Adding a trailer will suck when it comes time to park. Used camper trailers don’t get much use look for a small one or for an enclosed cargo trailer big enough to sleep in . |

Truck bed tent from Amazon. $210. Air mattress of your choice. I used to stay in one of surf fishing trips. It lasted for about 7 years. The only real drawback was having to take it down to move the truck at more than a walking pace. Easy to set up, amazing amount of headroom. Wind and rain did not bother it one bit. |
| I sometimes sleep in my full-width F150- bed cap and Decked drawer system with a 4" memory foam mattress. Two people side by side in a step side bed is going to be tight. I second the teardrop trailer recommendation. |
