We as a family have been really busy since May. Our middle son graduated high school. I took him sky diving and went back out west to ride roller coasters and fly gliders. I also had to help my daughter move from the dorms. With everything going on, my youngest was feeling a bit neglected. As he is the only one out of my three that enjoys fishing like I do. I decided to take him to scout out this little creek that’s very close to the house. The creek is indeed small, so I grabbed a couple of 0wt rods and we headed out. My son hasn’t yet come to appreciate fly fishing at this point so he also brought an ultra light spin rod although he ended up not using it at all. We fished for quite some time catching quite a few fish of various species. There were even a few smallies that came to hand in this tiny creek. Upon returning home, he asked me if I could get him his own fly rod and reel.

Thanks guys! Since moving to TN I haven’t spent as much time in the water as I used to, I need to start though. My son has me beat as far as days in the water since moving but it’s all been on spin gear. We are going to spend more time scouting creeks for smallmouth. I would assume that there should be plenty feeder creeks around as we live on Old Hickory lake. I have a spare 3wt that I will give him, I just need to grab a new reel for it. Last night he was asking about getting waders, boots etc. too. I may have created a monster! |
