If so let's see if we can breathe a little life into it. I have gotten fishing fever again but I'm waiting on warmer weather. I don't do cold like I used to. I'm close to Center Hill Lake in TN but don't like the big areas of the lake due to the jetskis and fast movers. I mostly fish the quiet coves and tributaries. Let more go than what I catch unless I'm storing up for a family fish fry. What about yall? |

The dead of winter is the slow time of year for fishing. I'll be heading out to do some fly fishing tomorrow - Texas hill country small stream fishing for bass, panfish, and Rio Grand Cichlids. We are coming off a cold snap and temps should be in the 70's today & tomorrow. If the water temp goes below 55F, then pretty much everything turns off and you have a slow day on the water. |

Glad to see some answers in here so quickly! We are in a warming trend but it's raining today. Tomorrow will be 53, 60s Sunday, 70s Monday and Tuesday. I'm going to go try a couple lakes in a fairly new state park I haven't been to. @cccpNyC. It doesn't have to be real fancy. I'm on the minimalist end of fishing. You can spend a fortune on tackle and gear and those guys fund the industry so I'm not going to knock them. But my grandpa always told me that fancy lures catch fishermen and bugs and worms catch fish. And after going through a phase of the fancy gear I have really pared down my tackle box and still catch the heck out of fish. My main live baits depending on what im hoing for are red worms, nightcrawlers, meal worms, crickets, minnows and other small fish like bluegill. My artificial baits are limited to a few spinners like the Mepps Anglia and a few rooster tails. Power bait dough, fake worms and zoom big worms in a variety of the popular rigs but most often a Ned or Inu rig. Poles are always a big part of the game but arthritis and other issues have made me too fumbly with a spinning reel I've gone back to basic Zebco type reels and rod setups. Now I'm not knocking the gear oriented guys. Fishing is just like the gun hobby. Some guys are minimalistic, some want it all. As long as you're not being an ass about your philosophy of fishing you're good to go. I'm just saying you don't have to spend a lot of money to get started. Now I have absolutely no idea what the fishing opportunities are in Utah. That's somewhere I've never been. Look around at what's pretty close to you and see if it is what you want to go after. I'm truly blessed that withing 25 miles of me I can fly fish small streams for trout, bank fish or boat on anything from small streams to rivers to a ~2200sq mile lake for a huge variety of fish. |

Freaking awful. Fish were acting all kinds of funky. If it tells you anything, we came in 2nd with 6-11 for 3 fish. It was a tough day but it is what it is. Made my gas money, entry fee back, and a few extra bucks so a good day of fishing! |

It was a wiring nightmare, and a lot of back roads engineering, but it did run good and the guy was actually using it. I managed to get enough shit fixed to get it on the water once, and then I started ripping it apart to put a casting deck in the rear before I ran out of warm weather and had to cover it up for the winter. The kids all pitched in and got me a Lowrance Hook Reveal 9 triple shot for Christmas on close out sale. I bought a bunch of new stuff over the winter as well, so I am getting pretty excited to get out there this year. |
