It is on either.
When I hit the WX button to go to the weather channel I get no audio, green light telling me I am RXing. It hasn't been a huge issue because I programed them under the LMR, and use that to listen in. But now since I seem to be the only one with this problem I am perplexed

This is one of the reasons I had the problem. For those that may have this problem. The radio has the option to alert you when the NWS sends out an alert tone. When I was programing the radio i selected a different setting for the tone alert. Once I set the weather alert to SCAN, it allows you to set the memory scan on your weather frequency, this will allow you to scan without it stopping on the WX channel during the continuous broadcast. When the Tone does go out, it will send the tone through the speaker and allow you to hit the WX button and listen to the warning. The setting I had it on was WX and SCAN, so that is why there was no audio, it was waiting for a tone. User error entirely

Well, I've had it less than a day and its already bricked! 
I followed the instructions, did the keypresses to read the radio. Made a few changes, then did the keypresses again. It says it programmed fine, yet the radio won't get out of EDt mode... Help, anyone? |

Program the radio again. Except when you are done doing the programming just turn the radio off and remove the programing cable. When you turn it back on it should default to Marine channel 16. I am thinking that when you did the key thing again it put it back into program mode. And it is stuck there. Have you tried removing the battery at all? |

You need to leave at least one of the marine channel groups enabled but you can disable all the channels in the group. Then only your 40 LMR channels will show up. |

This thing is makin me nuts(er). I got the software and the KAWA usb cord and drivers. Using windows 7. When I plug in the cord it either isn't being recognized and the tx light comes on if I unscrew it a little. Should the rcv (green) light be on when the radio is properly hooked up and in the edit mode? The radio is on COM 8 so I am trying to figure out the COM port assignment thing but I can't figure it out in windows 7. When I look at the device manager the only com/lpt port that shows up is the Prolific USB to Serial Com Port.
Any suggestions for this dummy? Edit to add: I got the thing on com 4 and the software is set for com 4 also. I don't think the cable is making contact as I can't get it to write to the radio. |

The prolific USB to serial is the programming cable, you need to see what com port the computer assigned it to. As far as windows 7 I cannot comment. As far as the light goes sometimes the green light will come on if the squelch setting is low, make sure the cable is securely fastened into the radio, if it is a little loose it will cause the radio to go into TX mode. |

A question about the HX370S.
Will it tell you by looking at the radio what frequency a channel corresponds to? I just wonder if you are using the 370 and needed to tell someone with an amateur HT what frequency to turn to if ya'll would be able match up so to speak. |

You can program it that way, but you'd sacrifice the alphanumeric tags.
The HX370 has a 6-character display that shows the channel name, it scrolls to show names longer than 6 characters. You can program anything you want here. It also has the big main display, which has one large letter, one large number, and one smaller number, e.g. P1.0 (pretend the bold is large). You can't use all the letters for the first character, just ones it can render with the LCD segments it has. So if you want to program the "name" as the 6-character frequency, you can do that. That's what I do for HAM simplex frequencies, e.g. 146520 and the main display is A1.0 For repeaters, I usually put the repeater name in the "name" field, though. |

Actually you can without having to program the frequency into the name tag. 1. Hold squelch button and turn on radio 2 Use the squelch button to toggle through menu 3 second setting will be CH FRQ DISPLAY 4. Use arrow keys to change setting to "ON" 5. Hit the PTT button to enter normal operation The screen will now show the frequency instead of the name tag, to change it back reverse the process. It is actually fairly quick to change it. Like Zak said I use the name tag for repeaters and the Frequency for simplex, that way I do not have to toggle them back and fourth. But there are 4 local repeaters in my city, they are Rep 1-4. If I forget what repeater is what I can toggle the frequency mode and double check them. Enjoy

Is that the actual port? Is the radio set to program mode? (IE turned on while holding down the appropriate keys)
Yes it is com 4 per device manager. The radio says "EDt" Also try screwing the cable all the way in. If you tried that then back it out a quarter turn at a time and try reprogramming. mine likes it about a half turn from tight.
Trying that to no avail. srcewed the shit out of it all the way to the bottom and it runs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm trying to understand why this radio is MURS legal when it is type 90 certified. Is it old enough to be grandfathered in? Otherwise I thought it needed part 95. I think I probably misunderstood.
I love the idea of a legal MURS radio that I could hand out to non ham friends and family. |

So sitting here building my adapter to a U-94 PTT for my flight helmet....woo. Managed to get the pins wrong twice. Desolder...resoldering for the last time. (Toning out each pin as I go this time ...yeah, I'm a dumbass.) Love the radio. I've accidentally thrown it off of small (~20 foot) cliffs twice now and it keeps on ticking. |
