| Recently found (after three or four moves) a fly rod that I had misplaced in the garage (in Texas). The line on it is roughly 12 years old, it's only been used once or so but not in 12 years and has been sitting in a hot and sometimes humid garage ever since. Replace or should it still be good to go? |

If the spool on the reel isn’t expensive I would save the line on the spool and put a new line on a new spool. The old line is now your lot or grass line for practicing. I don’t let my fishing lines hit asphalt or grass. Ymmv… FWIW, if it comes out in tight coils give it a good stretch and the problem is fixed. |
