I have Reolink cameras. Pretty sure you could use them without WiFi but you would have to have a power source and many cameras today are powered and data transferred over POE (CAT5 or 6 cable). Can you explain more about what you are wanting to do and maybe we can narrow down more specific recommendations? There is also a big thread in the Survival Forum that might give you more info. |

I only have experience with Reolink, but I'm very happy with it. Just a 4 camera 8 channel prebuilt system for my house, two in front covering each other and two in back same setup. I can cover both the front and back well. About the only camera I might add is one in the garage....as my kids leave it open a lot and while I can see anyone that enters/leaves through the garage door, once they're in there, I have nothing. With 4 cameras running I have about a month worth of data on hand to go back and check. So if I had 8 cameras obviously it would only be about 2 weeks worth...so if you want more data available either buy a larger system, run less cameras, OR build your own. I'm positive there's better out there, but the price/performance ratio was right for me and my needs. |

Cellular trail cameras would probably do what you need but you will need to pay a monthly fee per camera for the cell connection. Can you add a cheap WiFi puck to provide an internet connection? Doesn’t have to be WiFi cameras per se but to get the pics to your phone you will either need a cellular connection or an internet connection. You can get trail type cameras that you can download the pics to your phone on site. Basically, they have their own WiFi and when you get on site, you connect your phone to the camera and download the stored pics. But you can’t access them remotely. |

If you want all the cameras around a certain area then you could try what I did. I paid for a Verizon hotspot, I think it was $20 a month since I had other phones on the plan and gave me something like 15GB of data. That was enough for me to check in. Some type of cellular hotspot run to a POE router would give you the most reliable option. Otherwise you would need to go with a cell/LTE camera. Reolink makes cellular cameras that run off battery power and a small solar panel. The cameras record to an SD card in the camera and you would be able to view the recordings or watch live from your phone. The Reolink cameras have pretty good algorithms for detection people, vehicles, and animals. That way you don't get an alert every time a particle of dust flies in front of the camera or a cloud goes over. Each camera needs a SIM card and plan which isn't that expensive month to month. I've seen some plans as low as $10 a month. It looks like Amazon sells AT&T sim cars with a specific amount of data transfer for a limited window of time but your cost is known up front.
