I did a post here a couple of years ago seeking info from those that had added aTPMS system for a travel trailer. The Amazon reviews on these are all over the place, from really great to really sucks. One of the YouTuber's that I watch posted the damage resulting from a blowout on their camper. They had a TPMS system, but the battery in the receiver was dead and they were running Michelin LT tires. My camper is a 2020 Winnebago Minnie 2500FL and came from the factory with China trailer tires. (Bought in April 2020, built a couple of months before COVID) Since buying it we have towed it about 1500 miles per year and did a long trip from KY to WI, then to Yellowstone and back in 2021. I always wanted a TPMS as I can only see the drivers side front axle when towing. The folding stairs hide the passenger side tires from the mirror. I replaced the front axle China tires with Goodyear Endurance last season and replaced the back axle tires with Goodyear Endurance this year. I had the tire shop use metal valve stems as I planned to add TPMS. After putting the two new tires on, I took last year's set to the tire shop and had those valve stems replaced as well. I bought a six sensor Tymate system. It has solar charging for the in cab unit and a range extender that I mounted to the camper battery box. I had a 0-160 dial type pressure guage, checked the tire pressures and installed the TPMS caps. The in cab monitor showed a difference of 6 PSI from the lowest to highest pressure tire. I then ordered a Jaco Elite Pro digital pressure gage that is supposed to be accurate to .2 PSI. I set all tire pressures to 65 PSI and Tymate reported 65 and 66 PSI across all four tires. Just completed a couple hundred mile trip, pressures moved up consistently and the temp was about 15 degrees above ambient air temp. All in all, I like it. I could easily see the status of all four tires with a quick glance at the monitor. The range from the sensors to the receiver is very good. When I was adjusting pressure with the Jaco gage, I could hear the low pressure alarm going off in the truck and the truck was about 40 feet away inside the garage at the time. I did consider the flow through sensor option, but didn't want to risk the stress of the extra weight on the valve stem. Tymate link |

Looks like a decent system and the price is good as well. After a China bomb blow out last year, I replaced with GY endurance and researched TPMS. Since my trailer was prepped for it, I tried the Tire Linc, and it sucked horribly and I never got good reception on its only trip. So, more research and I found the TST 507. I got the flow thru because I had enough foresight to put metal stems on when the tires were replaced. The set up was a little aggravating, but it has been perfect for every trip I've made since. I won't nor can't say anything negative about your system, and it sounds like it performs fairly equal to the TST 507. TPMS is a safety margin that is worth it to prevent a problem before it can become a major issue. |
