So I am no stranger to DCF tents I had an MLD Solomid currently have a Zpacks Plexamid. Both have had the same issue they have been too small. I have really wanted a Zpacks Duplex. Well yesterday I finally got one with the flex freestanding kit in camo. It was used but honestly was only used less than a half dozen times. The guys selling it is really anxious to get gear to attempt Denali next year which caused him to drastically reduce his asking price... to $300. New it would sell for $850. I am pretty stoked. Now to decide what I want to do with the Plexamid. |

I missed out on an Arc Haul last year. I have an HMG Southwest at somepoint I will get an Arc Haul. The Duplex is so much more spacious than the Plexamid and only weighs @2oz more on my kitchen scale. I have a buddy with a Durston Xmid 2 I like the design but am not sold on it yet. |

| I have a Z-packs camo duplex tent with carbon fiber poles and titanium stakes and it is amazing. Mine is like 24 oz or so and I got it used for $500 like 2 years ago and it was only used a few times , still crispy. I went with the short carbon fiber take down poles because I do more bike packing on my gravel bike then on foot with hiking poles. Enjoy that tent man. |

But yeah, I like the Deschutes, the one thing I’m going to do is have a pull-out loop sewn at the rear like the ones on the ends, for more vertical room. |

Now to decide what I want to do with the Plexamid. That thing looks insane and you got a great price on it. My wife has been tent shopping for us for a while and I am sure she looked at that one. Weights have gotten insanely low but prices have also gotten insane. I mean over 500 dollars for a tent is a lot. And I am no stranger to high end gear. Now they top $700 no problem. But it looks very nice. We had to compromise and picked up a Gossamer Gear The Two on sale. Its a lot heavier (10oz) but half the price. So they arent really in the same league. But it is funny that they are almost EXACTLY the same shape, layout and pitch design. We have only spent one night in it but the shape and pitching works very well. I am sure you will be happy with yours. |
