im listening to 14.246 but i got my power on still so i cant hear shit read last post in this thread to understand problem  edit: i hear someone way down in the noise |

| must have some local(interference) noise, as the noise level is higher on my steppir beam than on my g5rv and that has never happened before |

im running a slinky dipole inside an apartment and this is the first time ive tried to make a contact. edit: i hear you talking to someone but i can only make out your side of the converstaion, the other guy is to faint edit again: i just tried calling you 3 times |

yea im here. right now 20 meters is best for me. everything below is all s7 noise. edit: edit again: and remember im on a slinky dipole inside my apartment. i have tried calling stations before and they just never hear me which is why im trying to schedule something like this. edit again: ive been calling cq arfcom with 100watts. im not hearing anything either. edit again: yea dead... about an hour ago i was listening to a big pileup on a station from ireland and a few other pileups where i coudlnt hear the DX side. edit again: i can tune up anything lol. im at 7.210 lsb with s5 noise hearing nothing, ill tyr to call out. edit: yea i hear 2 or 3 stations a w9 and a w?5?? edit: im listening to 7230... s7 noise and what sounds like "wind" interference. wierd sounding. hear noone calling. edit: heard someone real faint for a second but i cant make out anything with this high buzzing noise. sounds like something is beeping now. just heard CQ CQ then dead again. edit AGAIN: i heard some morse for a second?? more edit: i called cq arfcom. i know someone is there calling, its very faint and i catch bits of it, but just cant hear it over the noise. i dont know if this is local noise or just conditions. edit: heard a ki4 call a n?4? ... a mpt? heard someone say jedi lol. edit: i can sorta hear two of you talking, its in and out. |

yea i hear them in and out. i just heard em talking about squirels, apple trees, etc etc. edit: its s7 noise with a real loud buzzing "wind" sound though. cant make out anything without the DSP. |

857D preamp off i had the rf gain all the way up i just turned it down some and i hear a bit better. |

jax has the same radio, he can help you get sorted out. in the meantime, play with the RF gain, preamp, and DSP modes (in that order) to get the best audio. but sometimes it just doesn't work out -- e.g., GT is coming in very nicely for me this evening but i can barely hear Jax and they aren't all that far apart. ar-jedi |
