I've been thinking of buying some sort of IR scope/binocular thingy. The NRA Family website is promoting a Raven IR monoscope discounted to -$99-. One hell of a discount from the regular -$700- to -$800- cost. As usual this sounds to good to be true, is it? Anybody have one or something similar made by Raven? Any info would be appreciated. You can find them for about $60 on AliExpress. Not a $700 quality device based on review's I have seen and the screen seems small.. I know it's more, but I like the nvg30 works well. Better with the optional wide-angle lense and a dedicated long through handheld illuminator. If you also decide to look at the cheeper so called nvg binoculars, be warned that all seem to have a fixed 3 times zoom with additional digital zoom, where the monoculars are usually set default with no zoom and can digital zoom. |

I bought cheap digital night vision as I was saving up for "real" stuff. I found almost no comfort in the thing in the actual emergency situation I found myself in, and ordered a real device soon after. digital night vision is only kinda sorta a little better than no night vision, sometimes, if the conditions are right and the stakes are low. my SiOnyx now belongs to my 8 year old. |
