Turns out I'm doing more mowing that is road adjacent than I did a while back. Thought adding some flashers to the Z930M, to improve my visibility, might not be a bad idea. Found a set that has all the flasher control circuitry inside the flasher body, rather that hooking to a central control box. They use a 4 wire connection to alter/sychronize the flash patterns between the individual units. I don't want to drill holes in the mower, so I printed some backing plates that allow room for the wire to pass. I put servo tape on the backing plates & the flashers then attach to the plate with some M3 screws. Attached File I route wiring through existing openings & have some printed cable hooks, also using servo tape, to help route the wires. Attached File As you can see from the pic, the flasher wires are just a pigtail. I used some 18awg 4 conductor flat to extend them. I soldered the connections & covered with heat shrink. Fabric cable wrap provides some protection from UV & wear. Attached File Attached File Attached File I have all four on the machine & the cables have been routed back to the side control panel. Attached File Attached File The 4 flashers need the wires joined in order to synchronize. I could just solder all the ends to a single 4 wire set, but that would make any furture removal impossible without cutting wire, so I'm waiting on some waterproof 4 pin connectors. They should be in tomorrow. I'll follow up as I get farther along. |

I'd love to have enough Headlights to see to mow on the nights I get started late or it gets dark early. Not sure my Hustler Raptor (Lowes' Sold unit) has the ability to power lights bright enough to be useful... I'd love to mount a LED light bar at least on front, but front and back would be better. |

Got in the 4 pin waterproof connectors. Before adding connectors to the flasher wires I did the termination block. There were a number of ways to do the job, but I ended up printing a loom to manage the connector wires while soldering. It consisted of a 4 X 5 arrangement of holes in a 3mm thick plate. I used tinned copper buss wire for aggregating each color. The extra row of holes were used for attaching a seperate 2 pin connector for the power input and a pair of wires to facilitate the yellow to black (flasher wire color) shorting switch that will permit changing the flash style. Neutral RTV was used to dope the bare ends & I printed a "lid" to cover that area. Finally both cool enough & dry enough to finish up. The control panel comes off by removing 4 torx screws and a 10mm screw. This is the panel removed & lay on it's side. There are two green elipses on the pic, one for the switch cutouts hidden by the vinyl sticker surface and one for a switched power connector. The connector had a plug cover that I removed before the pic was taken. Attached File I tested the connector to confirm that it was switched 12v and to find out pin polarity. Turns out it is the reverse of the pre-wired connectors I had bought. This is why you will see a flipped red/black connections going from that plug to my wiring. This is the illuminated switch that I installed in the cutout after removing the portion of the vinyl that covered it. The wiring is the proper configuration for an illuminated pilot present when switched power is turned on. The main lamp is on when the switch is in the ON position & switched power is on. The striped red is for +12v feed. Attached File Here the interface wiring in place on the switch before covering and before connection to power & flasher plugs. The two red wires coming from the flasher junction are attached to about 4 feet of wire covered in spiral wrap & terminated in a momentary switch.
