I have rarely been able to recover a bullet. This year i decided to switch to high shoulder shots. Where i hunt in east Texas woods if they go out of sight they are just a pita to find even when they don't go 50 yards. While i generally hunt everything with handloads over the year's i've been gifted with a ton of ammo so at 56 i decided it was time to burn it down. I chose to hunt with 308 federal fusion 165's this year as i reload 75 gold dot's for 223 for my thermal hog hunting and it's worked outstanding. I had a horrible deer season i saw exactly one legal deer the last weekend....... This is him 135 yards shot was actually perfect below the backstrap and above the shoulder virtually no bloodshot meat. (better lucky than good) The bullet busted every bone in it's path and was just under the hide on the off side. DRT drop to the ground. Just thought people considering gold dot's or federal fusion might like to see the bullet recovery.

Watching the kids shoot Pieeater's 1919 was great. Nothing warms the heart more than seeing a little kid kneeling in a pile of brass and links.-Pthfndr after the Nov 13th NorCal shoot

I have been trying to catch 75 gold dot's in pigs but everything is exiting so far even shooting through the spine comes out the gut when they are laying on their side after being dropped. |
