UPDATE: So I guess no one is using it. Got it. I'll start futzing with it once I get the new solar system working. Gonna need more juice if I'm gonna run all these electronic doo-dads. Previous ===== So Dog Mahal 2.0 came from the factory with a Starlink "dish" and ancillary equipment already installed.... And absolutely nothing else as far as how to set it up or connect. Zero paperwok. Now it doesn't seem like rocket science given the information on their website, but it sure is annoying that I have to probably disassemble some stuff to get at important numbers. Fuckers. Anyway. I'm pretty sure that this is an in-motion system. I'm probably not going to turn it on until Thanksgiving when we're down island at PINS with a half bar of cell signal. Anyone using it and have comments on "do" or "don't do" things? |

Just got back from a two week trip. I received the unit and downloaded the App. Created an account and went about setting it up at the campsite. It went together quickly and there were no problems in setting it up. I waited about 15 minutes for the account to activate and for them to charge my card for the service. I started out as a residential customer but switched over to the roaming plan so I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of changing the address every time I moved. It has been the best WiFi I've had while on the road. I had been setting the dish on a table or the ground but I bought a Harbor Freight flagpole and a Flag Pole Buddy and attached it to my ladder. I'm going to use the coax cable setup on the outside of the trailer as an entry point for the Starlink cable. I bought a pass through connector and a Smartplug Rv Data Port Inlet - Blank And Open Port - White from eTrailer.com. I also bout a 10' length of Starlink cable for the inside of the trailer to the router. Pretty happy with the system and ease of use. |
