Got it complete for about $300 off of direct pricing. Saved $300 or so from the best sale price I could find. Thoughts from anyone who has used one? I wanted something a bit lighter, but I could not get anywhere near the price range when looking at Kuiu or Exo Mountain (definitely not Kifaru) and was running short on time (trip to Idaho for elk is first week of next month). Anyways, tell me your positives and negatives. |

They make good stuff. A little heavy but well built. You’ll know after a couple days carrying it. Used packs are always for sale, I picked up a nice ExO off rokslide for 400 bucks. If you don’t like yours you could probably get your money back and try something else. |

Years ago, I bought a very nice large kifaru… NEVER used it. It literally sat in my closet for 5 years or so. Sold it, made a little extra $$. I needed something for this trip, so I started looking. The REALLY high end stuff was way more than I really wanted to pay. I’d consider MR upper mid tier, and I like the one pack I have from MR (i EDC an Urban Assault 24 in “waxed canvas”) a lot. I was looking at Sawtooth or Metcalf 50 and this one was much less expensive on ebay and bigger, so I snagged it. We plan on hiking in at least 1 mile maybe more to camp and not hiking out (if possible) for 5 days minimum, so I didn’t want to make multiple trips in. Also, shouldnt be a big deal to unload pack and compress it for day pack use. Lastly, I could easily snag a 40-50 L pack intended for this MR frame and use it as a daypack and leave the huge Beartooth at camp if this is too much (next trip, not this trip). |

It’ll work fine. I’ve used most, never had a Kifaru tho. Once I got beyond the cheap packs I was sorry I didn’t do it sooner. The stuff we have now is pretty incredible. This kuiu started out as a 3k and I got a 6k bag for it. Pretty easy swap on all of them. Attached File Forgot I had this pic. We made several day trips into our hunting spot. Really more of a work party. All day hacking a path thru oakbrush to get to the aspens. Dragged the beer along and stashed it in a creek for the hunt. | I've had every Kifaru military pack they made at one time and really liked them, but the were heavy. I've never tried one of their hunting packs. I'm currently running a Mystery Ranch Popup for hunting, but my go to day hike pack is a Kuiu 1500. I tried one of the larger KUIU packs and ended sending it back because of the wastebelt. I'd say if the pack fits your needs and feels good when loaded down stick with it. |
