Is this about the best "off the shelf" shotgun you can by for turkey hunting? Mossberg 935 Is the X-Factor choke sufficient when paired with some Federal TSS? |
I wouldn’t say “best”. I bought a Winchester SX4 turkey gun last year and love it. I looked at the Mossbergs. It’s a Mossberg.

Reviving an old thread since spring Turkeybseason is approaching. I have a Mossberg 500 I’ve been very happy with. Bought it for deer hunting but it’s a combo that also has a turkey barrel and choke and fiber optic sights. The deer barrel is a full rifled and fluted barrel. I wanted something that was redot ready and cheap - so I went with a Girsan 312 sport. 24 inch barrel with Beretta Mobil Chokes. Put a Holosun 507C on top for the easy button...My youngest son missed two birds prior to me getting this gun. the top pic was last April - this was a 60 yard bird - the only shot I was going to get all season - second to the last day - I am a true believer in TSS. Love the gun. two weeks prior a 20 year old gal killed her first bird with the gun - never fired it will she shot the bird... For years I have been buying camo tape and wrapping my guns during season. I wanted a rattle can paint job - do I used Brownells Aluma Hyde II - kind of matching bottomland with some turkey tracks...Think that it turned out pretty good and is holding up really well! Been rained on twice so far this season! Should have done a full mount of that monster - over an 11 inch beard and 1 7/16 inch spurs. Attached File Attached File |

Because you are not doing high volume shooting...get some short - light weight - easy to tote... I loved hunting with my dad's Benelli Super black eagle in 20 ga - with TSS is will tap a Tom! Look hard at the new O/U by Mossberg - with no action - will be short, easy to tote and option of two chokes. Red |
