I spotted an Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 for sale used near me. I have been thinking about getting one for a small local lake for fitness and fishing. I am 67 years old and 5’9” 245 lbs. How stable is this. I saw one description saying it is a fishing kayak. It’s listed as having no damage and comes with a paddle and seat cover. For $75 it isn’t a big risk but if it isn’t suitable it isn’t worth it. I would be strapping it to the top of my 4 door jeep Wrangler. |

That is a pretty good buy I would think. Fishing kayaks are designed to be stable. 13 feet long isn't going to be the most portable option out there and is going to hang off the front and the back of your vehicle a fair bit. My 13 ft. touring boat is about as long as my Frontier. It is a sit on top which means it is easier to get into and out of than one you have to slide into. | A little long, and a little narrow, but it's wider than my Sea Ghost. It's pretty lightweight, which is always good when roof topping. For that price, hard to say no. |

Pretty good for the price to see if you're really into it. 13" should be pretty stable. I would get a watch that monitors your heart rate at your age and weight. Paddling is high effort and you don't want to have a heart attack on a lake. More important than the kayak is where you launch. Texas lakes are tough places to paddle with boat (and worse, jet ski) traffic and chop. Do your homework before you get out there. I've been nearly run over several times despite being close to shore. People will blow by you waving happily as they swamp your kayak. |

I have one...that exact model. It is also for sale, but at a much higher price It's stable, fast and easy to get going. Mine has a stadium seat added, a rudder added (never buy a kayak without one), a fish finder and a battery as well as rod holders. I carried it on top of my Fusion and Kia Niro since it was brand new in 2013. It's not light but with a set of rear window rollers it's manageable. I just bought a Jackson Bite FD pedal kayak to replace it. |

Mostly I will be on Marine Creek Lake and the small lakes on the LBJ Grasslands. I have an Apple watch and want to see if I can stay in zone 2 like on my bicycle. |
