Friendly reminder. Please add @ARFCOM to your "Callsign Groups".
File>Settings>General tab>Callsign Groups (comma separated) This will allow us to find each other on JS8Call as a group. Similar to the @AllCALL group. Side note: I'm really digging the new features in the latest releases. I've been out of the loop for a couple months but it is nice seeing such progress made. Faster modes and new query & relay features. I'm also happy to see so much more traffic on the air, as well as "auto" stations left on the air (probably unattended, I know, and I'm 'guilty' too). I do wish there was a feature like the neglected FSQCall that let you send a request to speed up/slow down the speed of the relay station for unattended relay stations. The latest version seems to be having issues with dropped decodes & duplicate decodes, at least for me. But, the author has always been good on updates and has always come through. Any experiences/insight/advice from the rest of y'all? |

could use some help with js8call. I have some time on my hands this next week, and would like to try and get active on this mode. Over the summer I managed to hook everything up and get on digital HF modes.
Do I need to update the software I downloaded, or is Call a new program? any helpful videos to watch? |

I made about 6 contacts on ft8 (I think) and gave it up as work started to get busy. Have not been on the air since summer. Good news is hunting season is over, we are not traveling too much for my kid's hockey this year, and I have some time to spend in the shack and reloading. Biggest issue is I cannot recall anything - my memory is terrible and I have to relearn just about everything when I step back into a hobby if I just started it. So new to me computer, rig (ft 897), and modes, and now its all new again! |

I’m wanting so bad to get on the air doing digital. Have a 891 and was considering selling it to fund a 7300.
If it doesn’t sell by the end of the week. Will probably go forward with building out my 891 as a digital radio. So sound card, cable raspberry pi etc... Also want to move the station to the house from work. It will involve drilling some holes and attaching coax to brick, both of which I have no experience in. |

I use a FT-981 as my home rig, and run digital all day with a USB cable for CAT control and another interface cable with a sound card interface inline to it for passing and decoding audio, both connected to my PC. There's a little bit of menus on the radio to deal with switching from voice to digital, but it works just fine. I just bought a cable kit from XGGCOMMS for my 891. So guess I will be setting it up at work here in a week or so and try to work all of the bugs out. Then migrate the shack from work to the house. I chat with a group of guys and gals daily on the local repeater all are FT8 junky’s. About 4-5 of them all run their radios remotely using tablets, phones etc.. and one guy has his power supply plugged into one of those Alexa (or similar) switches. If something hangs up with the radio he has a backup on killing it which seems cool. |

I got the XGGCOMMS interface for my kenwood 440, since then it took a poop.
Got a deal on a ts-680s. Called XGGCOMMS to check what pins needed to move, confirmed with schematics. 680's been doing a key the mic, then unkey @ about 1-2 second intervals. It's NOT an oscillation. Is this normal? I'm suspecting a previous owner may have moved the contacts internally to be compatible with the more prolific 440? Maybe? Re soldered pins to original pos. I messed with the settings so much, I'll have to delete the program and reload it to get it back to the beginning. Several hours of checking boxes......  still no joy |

Ran across this while trying to educate myself on JS8. Guy is running JS8 call on a pi zero. The tiny screen is kinda goofy but everything else is cool. Failed To Load Title |

Well I have ran JS8 now for 3 days straight and enjoy it but seems that it doesn’t have many users within my footprint that want to chat. I have picked up over 200 stations but think some of those are FT8. I have maybe probably 5-6 true rag chew contacts and that was pretty cool. Even 2 DX to Canada (don’t laugh I’m new to Hf) it was pretty neat. Was wondering wouldn’t it be beneficial to do @ for states or country’s? Is there a JS8CALL forum? |

Hardly. I just haven't been leaving my station on as much any more. Seen on the JS8call groups IO that Georgia ARES is looking at starting to use it. This Saturday they are running a test all day on JS8call 40M. They are advising guys to add the @ARES to the list. I have it on mine now and encourage folks to participate. Attached File Also. I always hit the @arfcom with a auto SNR? And never get a hit back.

Last night was the first night I made a JS8 Arfcom contact. 865 miles on 15watts for me other end was 50w. Pretty cool, was able to use the Fast mode. Attached File |
