Using the sun to super heat compressed gas, run through a condenser to super cool it and be able to freeze a water bottle placed inside the condenser. I saw this Youtube video (below) and was wondering if this is possible, has anyone done it and outside of needing the sun, what are the downsides? Didn't watch the whole video, but I'm assuming it's just an absorption mode cooler since it's using heat. Not science fiction. It's how old refrigerators and propane-based coolers (ETA: still common in RVs) work. Ammonia-water is the really common refrigerant in these. |
