It took until last month to break even, and I sold and made $8 an ounce or so. @TheOtherDave Similar. I realizes that between paying above spot and getting below spot in normal times, it was a ~25% gain needed just to break even. So I stopped doing PMs mostly and traded what I had for a really nice watch. Even in non-shtf times it's nice to be able to move around in the outside world or travel with the $ equivalent of a cheap car or 2 months emergency fund hidden under a sleeve. It's also not something that needs to be declared when traveling, which bars and cash do. May or may not be a situation, but still. Having a few good guns that you are competent with and a the above mentioned 2 cases of ammo for each of them is all you really need. Sure, you can have all kinds of “contingency plan” rifles like that dedicated suppressed bolt gun that you would like to have for hunting discretely after SHTF (actually not a bad idea), just make sure you have a way to take it with you if your SHTF plan doesn’t go to plan. Also agree. I have a few hundred rounds of good quality stuff stacked away and not part of my training stuff, but that's it. I figure either after using those rounds in SHTF I'm doing great and entitled to loot drops, or I'm already dead and it's not my problem |
