Here is the reason: I have a special needs (mentally disabled) 11yo boy, and he can't handle being at places like other people's houses, events, stuff that we may want/need to go to as a family. When he was little, we took the 3rd row out of the Excursion, some blankets and beanbags and he was happy. Went through a few years of darn near unable to travel due to anxiety, but now actually likes traveling, but not necessarily being places. Really this all got green lit after 2 funerals this winter that would have been crazy easier to go to as a family had we had this. I am building this to be 100% usable all 4 seasons, including the coldest of MN winter weather. I'm not starting blind, been RVing all my life. I'm also not starting blank. I have a 22ish foot bumper pull (2010? IIRC, or somewhere around there) RV that is junk due to water damage around the popout, but other than the rotten floor/wall, the rest of the mechanicals are find and so I will be tearing that unit down and taking all the parts. We built on out of a cargo trailer one time . It was way cheaper, but still “travel trailer quality” If I was gonna do serious traveling, and build myself again, I’d buy aluminum horse trailer with torsion axles and use it as the superstructure. Will end up heavier, but also won’t break shit on every trip . On demand hot water makes it better . |
