My car-camping setup is an Arca-Swiss camera plate mounted to a large bamboo cutting board that has been custom milled to securely mount my backpacking stoves. I can have up to 3 stoves in operation on the board without much worry. The Arca plate lets me mount the stove/prep board to one of my camera tripods, and can be leveled out to cook most anywhere. And, most importantly, with the height adjustable from 8" to 60" I can cook while standing, or preferably, without ever leaving my small camp chair. Everything (except the tripods) packs into a 58Quart Plano Sportsman tote: 12x18" cook/prep board; 2 synthetic cutting boards; 3 stoves; 3 stove canisters; 2 bowls, 2 plates; 2 mugs; a 1400ml titanium pot and lid; a 900ml titanium pot and lid; an 11x11" griddle; spice rack; and food for about 2 weeks. A small 22Quart cooler is separate from this. Milke/eggs/proteins; real basic; real compact. An IceMule soft-sided cooler duffel is also a separate item, and key for fall/winter months where I put my water bladders and bottles in the ice mule to stave off the freeze. While driving with the heater on: IceMule open. When parked: IceMule gets closed up. |
