Watering my garden requires about 200' of garden hose. I've used the same crappy plastic 100' hose reel for several years to get to the garden, then just coil/uncoil by hand the last 100' that is in the garden. It's time to finally shitcan the crappy plastic hose reel. I'd like to get a new reel that will get me the 100' to the garden. I did some searches and found some archived threads that seemed to point to Eley brand over and over. At $320, this is expensive, but I'm leaning this way: Eley I just wanted to see if there were any other opinions/experiences? |

I have three Eley wall mounts and bought one for my daughter. Nice to have something that works and doesn't wear out. They have an extra wide version for longer hoses. It is common to get a 10% off promotion. Today "only" they have 15% off. |

I didn't know if the TODAY ONLY!! 15% off was a legit deal, or if I could hold out and find a cheaper price, but alas, I need a reel, so I bought the one I linked in the OP yesterday. I got tired of dragging a hose out to the garden, about 100 feet or so. I buried some 1 1/2" PVC pipe about a foot under ground and ran a 7/8" hose through it. The hose connects to a dedicated hose bib at the house and to a hose splitter at the garden. I then connect a hose to the splitter and to a sprinkler or spray nozzle. In the fall I disconnect the hoses and blow them out with compressed air so they don't freeze and split. This is the 4th year I've used this setup without any pressure problems so no leaks that I've found. |
| I assembled the reel this weekend. I'm not normally one to give a review of something that I haven't really even used, but the packaging and instructions were phenomenal and very professionally done. It looks great. |
