Anyone have any experience with hiking in the Andes? so I work most of my summer and have months of free time in the winter. I want to do a backpacking trip in that free time. I've done the Colorado Trail, so I'm not dumb when it comes to long trails. However, never been to South America and don't speak any other language. What resources and information to look for? Maybe a group or club? Things to avoid? |

I do know there are a huge amount of trails on the south island. If I had to choose between the two, I would go with New Zealand (it's one of the few places we have talked about going back to).
