| What's everyone have planned to make better deer habitat this year? I frost seeded clover and chicory into my food plots and started cutting down some jack pines last week. Next weekend I'll be cutting a bunch more junk pines. Put in a tree order today: domestic apple, quaking aspen, and white pine. Will have about 5 weeks to get the site prepped for the apple trees, so lots of chainsaw work in my near future. |

| Likely a lot less work than last year. I think I have all the trimming done as I like. I'm sure some of the stands need repair, one would be a good idea to build stairs for it instead of the ladder. One food plot was clover and chicory for a few years, but I suspect is time to redo it. I'll kill it and plant whatever I decide to plant in the second food plot, then fall plant clover back into it for next year. The second food plot I'm just crossing my finger for a drier summer than last year so I can actually get it done. Last year it was standing water in the middle all the way through August, and I only got about half of it planted. |

This is the biggest project we did last year. A buddy and I probably cut around 75 jack pines to open this spot up. Paid a guy to come in with a grapple and skid steer to get the stumps out and till. Put a spring blend in that came in real good but kind of got screwed by drought in the fall. Hopefully I’ll have a good clover and rye crop coming up in a few weeks, we’ll see. Still to wet for us to do Anything yet. We have several things we have to do this year. Till under the current clover omits and replant them. Plant the new alfalfa plot to the north of the big stand (clover is to the south) Reload the salt and mineral licks. Redo the ground blind and it had died. Plant additional small food plots of turnips, brassicas, rape seed, and some others. There is some timber to deal with but mostly it’s clearing out some small-medium sized stuff to help the mature trees. And if time allows put in 6-8 each pecan and apple trees. |

Been a busy spring shooting matches and turkey hunting. Attached File Picked these up yesterday. Attached File Now getting motivated to start some land projects. Been thinking about a clover trail connecting the two plots through the woods. |
