Took my kayak out this morning at 7:00. Only one other person on the whole lake. At around 9:00 am, the booming started. The Marines are at Ft. Bragg shooting howitzers and the booms just carry over a smooth lake. Then, a Bald Eagle swoops down in front of my kayak and catches a fish. He flies up to a tree and starts eating the fish, totally ignoring the slow, poor fisherman right below him Now, if that's not 'Merica, I don't know what is ...the sound of freedom echoing off the lake and a Bald Eagle. Nice. A friend and I were in float tubes and it was fish on every cast, at a mountain lake @ 9k’. We had a couple eagles doing the same and it was an awesome experience. My buddies tube was leaking and he wouldn’t quit till the water started coming over his waders lol. |
