Anyone looking forward to the opening? I'll be home mid September and will take my 7yo grandson out for his first dove hunt.! Just made him this hunting vest, cards sized for .410 (don't have any down range with me hence 7.62/.300 WM cases for sizing). He’s been squirrel and rabbit hunting last two yrs whenever I’m home Attached File Back Attached File .410 cards are removable and able to attach to stock of his .410 too. Made these cards last year. | Definitely looking forward to this year. I’ll be out there Monday morning before daybreak. I missed last year due to rotator cuff surgery. My father passed away since last season and I will be using his Super Black Eagle Benelli to hunt with this year. Now my son gets to use my VersaMax. |

I’m pumped, my boy love dove hunting. There is a big cookout tomorrow night for all the guys we hunt with and then a hunt for opening day on Monday. I’d always been told to not wear blaze orange when dove hunting because they see and avoid the color. I’m not even sure if that’s true, but I remember my first time dove hunting and the guy that invited me telling me to take the orange shit off when I first got out of the truck… |

I'm going to try dove hunting for the first time this year. I've never realized how many doves there are until I started paying attention. They seem to be everywhere. I'm sure that won't be the case when the season starts. I'm looking forward to taking the pup out for his first hunt. He probably won't sit very still. Attached File |

I'll head out to our stock tank Monday morning if it doesn't rain anymore. We got two inches last night, and if it rains any more tomorrow, I won't be able to get to it. I'll try my damnedest to make it this season, though. We have a contract pending on the property, and if it sells, I will no longer have a place to hunt and fish.

Went dove hunting for the very first time this past April. First-rate lodge in the Santa Fe region of Argentina. Everything I do in South Carolina will be pale in comparison, but I'm still looking forward to it. |

Orange required during deer/small game when seasons overlap. |

First outing today... pretty dismal (especially with how many shells I went through  ) Team effort only got us five, and we had at least three more that disappeared after they hit the ground. The only place we could find them flying around was an overgrown pasture and apparently they are good at hiding in there once they go down  I've got enough to try to make some poppers I always see other people make. |

| Had youngest son and his son out yesterday morning. On a patch of CRP millet surrounded by woods and swamp. Very foggy morning and no birds. Grandson loved his vest. Next weekend is NC youth deer hunt. Will give that a go |
