I'm trying to intentionally shoot them at some distance. It's a lot tougher than at my feeder since they just don't move much in my area in the day..... My setup and current at distance kill ....... 357 yards 6.5 creed

Due to some land clearing I can now get 1K yard plus shots, of course I'm not raking any shots anywhere near that distance. I did manage to kill this one last month, based on my estimate and holds, it was between 350-375 yards. I shot four times and heard three impacts and I saw one splash behind indicating a high miss. Wide open dirt area... each time it ran it only went about twenty-five yards and started the death circle which gave me another opportunity to shoot. If I had my range finder with me I'm sure I'd have grounded that hog in two shots. Rem 700 LTR with Leupold Mk IV 4.5-15x50 and 168gr Hornady TAP. This is my issued rifle so practice is important...   |
