| My G5RV Jr and radio are actually working on 15m tonight, so I just got 9L5A on FT8. Early today I got them on 17m SSB via truck and hamstick, didn't take long either. I only called a few times with a bunch of Spain stations being answered. Then he came back asking for the last letter of my c/s. |

Attached File I managed to get ZS8W Marion Island on 40m FT8 MSHV at about 01:12Z this evening. Brutal pileup of lids, kids, and space cadets, but thankfully I copied my RR73. He copied me at -05 and I copied him at about -23.  Marion Island is an ATNO and given that a ship only goes there one a year to bring supplies and a new group of scientists, there is no telling when the next time it will be activated. Life is good.

https://www.dx-world.net/zs8w-marion-island/ (5/1) [UPDATE] – Yuris informs DX-WORLD that for approximately 3 days maximum he will have to stop transmitting. This is mainly to do some antenna work on the island. After ~3 days he will resume activity. --- Edit: Looks like I have 2 QSOs in ZS8W's Clublog logbook, so even though they never confirmed via FT8 they evidently considered the QSOs complete.  That's a bit of a surprise. It being #11 on the DXCC Most Wanted List, and an ATNO, I am not going to complain. So, now I am working on getting the times close enough to match on the clublog log matching page. I had not jotted down the QSO info because I didn't think we had completed our QSOs.  I won't make that mistake again.To reconstruct the times, I went into my WSJTX log (ALL.txt) and found the time where they called me and created an ADIF file with that info using TQSL then uploaded it to clublog. I then ran the match again and ZS8W showed up. That means what they put in was within the allowable 15 minute tolerance, and counts as correct, right? For the second QSO, I modified the ADIF file to make the time 16 minutes later and uploaded that. Ran the match page again, and sure enough, it showed that one as a match too. Am I correct in thinking that I should be able to go ahead and upload the same QSO info to QRZ and LOTW without any issue? Attached File |

The higher bands seem crappy today. I'll check to see if ZS8W is on lower bands later. |

Most people are calling ZS8W blindly hoping for a "Hail Mary" response to their call. I needed to run 500 watts on FT8 to make my three contacts.  Attached File It's a damn tough path to North America. You have to somehow overcome Europe and Asia to get it done. |

Hope I worked the right one, he hasn't updated ClubLog yet.
