| Strange you didn't like the .44 my family has hunted Indiana forever and all use .44's ruger redhawk 7.5" ruger .44 mag carbine ruger 77/44 henry 44 lever you name it someone uses it and ive only heard of one deer not dropping instantly because a friend of ours son hit a gut shot but of easily 2-300 deer in my immediate family its essentially always if you hit them they are DRT. |

| i'm down with the 450 BM. BM upper/barrel on top of a PSA blem lower. Been flawless and accurate. Got a lot of deer under it's belt already. I'm probably going to pick up a mid-range 350L in a bolt gun for when youngsters want to try their hand in deer hunting. The 450 is too much for them. |

Best part is it uses almost all standard parts so you only need a barrel and a mag to get an existing upper ready. Really a pretty cheap way to try out a new round. Should make a nice multipurpose deer and yote gun. completely agree!

thanks,its a wilson combat barrel. i get one ragged hole at 50 yards and just at an inch at 100. looking to go to a range that goes out to 300 this weekend and see how she does a little further. doubt i would try to take an animal at 300 but just for fun. 200ish probably be my limit for deer.

I’m in Ohio as well and I like option’s. I have a 450, 50 Beowulf and 350 Legend. The 450 has been the only one that has laid eyes on deer and hammered them. The 350 annihilated hogs on a trip last year in Texas using 180gr federal SP. I have no doubts it’s would work great on a deer. |

44 mag in my Marlin lever works fine I also own a marlin in 45/70 but when you load it hot enough to flatten out the trajectory it is kinda a handful. In a AR I would be looking hard at the 350, I am not sure of the actual numbers but I am thinking it would shoot a bit flatter than the 450 or 458 and ammo or reloads have to be cheaper. I know ammo cost for a hunting rifle isn't a consideration but anything I am going to hunt with I want to shoot a bunch with to get comfortable with. |

That's true of a max load in .45-70 ... but for Ohio or Midwest deer generally, the distances are typically inside 100-yds - plus how many shots are you really going to get on a deer? If you miss it with the first one, by the time you've lever-cycled the action, the deer is in the next county. |

In line muzzeloaders started to game the system by being so efficient. That led to folks lobbying for pistol caliber carbines. I killed quite a few deer with a .44 magnum, both out of a handgun or carbine. Very efficient. Then they decided the rule would be straight wall, case to a certain length (1.7 inch??) Thats when the 450 Bushmaster and later the .350 Legend came in. This case length is why we aren't using the 45-70. I am all in on the 450 Bushmaster. I've killed 1 bear and I think 6 whitetails with it. I had a Marlin lever action converted to 450, have a Ruger American and recently put together 2 AR's in 450. It kills things DEAD. |
