I am hunting a groundhog I've named caddyshack. This malevolent marmot has vexed me at every turn. Every time I think I know his patterns, he changes up. He's spotted me twice coming around buildings from 80yds + and dives for one of his many holes. The property owner took a shot with a .22 and missed. Last week, I set up so I can cover two of his lairs and sat down to wait. I feel weight on my shoes and there he is looking up at me. We locked eyes then he trots off directly towards the house. No safe shot. I'm going to try again next week but I'm starting to feel like Bill Murray. I've shot 8 groundhogs at this farm, but this one has me stumped. |
