Blacksmithing: Knife on page 4!! (Page 3 of 3)

Hi friends! Unfortunately for my hobby, I got married and had a kid:( I moved to a Condo in Wyoming and all my fun stuff is in storage. I'm going to get a propane forge going this spring but for now I have to live with not having any hammer time.
I hope some of you guys got some good knowledge out of this thread. I'm hoping to take a class during my vacation and see if I can learn some more as well. |

My grandfather was a blacksmith, and for years I've been toying with the idea of introducing yet another hobby into my already-too-full schedule. The journey has begun. Picked this up at a swap meet yesterday, $45 OTD... even still has the spring and bench mount plate, which apparently go missing pretty often with used/antique post vises: 
Actually went there in search of an anvil. Not as successful there... kinda surprised me; this meet is a regular thing that we visit frequently, and I've always seen an anvil or two there. Best I could do this time, though: 
And yes, before anyone feels the need to point it out, I have dry skin  . I am apparently immune to lotion. Three hours walking around a swap meet at 45° with 20 mph winds, carrying a big chunk of cold iron on my shoulder didn't help any.
