I checked the first box on the cabin list today….. I finished the ceiling in my mom’s room….. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File It’s a raw pine T&G. I still have to finish the cedar trim boards on the eaves and then I will move on to the doors of her cabinets. |

Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File I setup the mill today and have one large pine bucked up and resting before I mill them for siding for the cabin. They will go into the kiln when milled. I have another pine to drop after I finish getting this one cleaned up as it will have to fall right where the remains of this one are. |

A couple weeks worth of updates…. I started by gutting my bathroom and moved the shower outside into a temporary lean to for the summer…. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File This will be our shower for the summer until I can install all the new plumbing /drainage throughout the cabin. |

This weekend I gutted the rest of the bathroom / pantry and moved the dividing wall about 18” forward to give more room in the new bathroom.Attached File The wall moved forward from the 2x6 next to the gun safe… Attached File I put new lights in pantry and then installed the ceiling boards Attached File Attached File Attached File |

I spent the day yesterday finishing the walls in the new pantry….. Attached File Attached File All of this wood came off the same walls , were trimmed down and replaned. I then installed metal on the wall where a small propane fridge will go….Attached File Attached File There will be a built in prep counter as well as storage for all my kitchen utensils as well as storage for all of my canned goods, dry goods, etc… Attached File |

Built a cabinet for a small fridge , my dehydrator, and the vacuum sealer….. just need to add the pullout shelves on the bottom…. Attached File And also “picked” the walls.? Attached File Attached File Cedar shelves, a concrete countertop and the final trim will follow. |

This weekend I made the bathroom door out of all the scraps I have lying around….. First I took some slightly twisted t&g and laminated them together… Attached File Attached File Attached File Then I used 1x12 red for planks to stabilize the t&g on top and some pine furring strips below that the metal will screw to…. Got quite a bit more done this weekend…. The finishing in the pantry is moving right along and the propane line has been extended to accommodate the second fridge…… Attached File Attached File Attached File I still have to finish the work table and the lower shelves. I’m building a galvanized pipe frame and then trying my hand at a concrete counter top. |

I also started on the bathroom as I received my new composting toilet this week…. Attached File As the new toilet is taller than the last one I had to build my version of the ‘squatty potty’ and it turned out pretty nice. Finished the ceiling in pine t&g , installed the lighting, and part of the corrugated wall around where the shower / trough will be…. This weekend I am going to make a work table for the pantry. The top will be from a pine slab that I have had sitting around for a couple of years and the legs and shelves will be from some red fir that I brought home from work. Attached File Attached File The top required a whole lot of planing to some what smooth it out…it has a slight bow so once the two sides are fit and glued a lot more hand planing will occur. Attached File I then split the plank and decided on the best fit for the two and then put all three planers to work…. Attached File Attached File |

(cont.) Attached File They are rough fit together now and I have them oriented the best way possible so now the joinery come…. Attached File Attached File I failed to get a pic of the glue up but there are three 3/4” red fir pegs in the holes to join the two sides together. But it’s glued and needs to dry overnight ….Attached File I will begin work on the base this afternoon. |

Began roughing in the joinery for the legs yesterday … Red for 4x4’s for the legs, 2x4’s for the base, and red for 2x2’s for the runners…. Attached File Attached File Attached File The joinery was fairly basic but took a little bit to get it right…. Attached File Attached File I am currently working on the cross braces and then will glue and fasten the base together before finishing the legs and setting the top. |
